capacitors and applications of capacitors

Capacitors

Capacitors are devices which are used to store electric charge and electrical energy.  it consists of two conducting objects separated by some distance.  Capacitors are widely used in many electronic circuits and have applications in many electronic circuits and have applications in many areas of science and technology.

Applications of capacitors

In many ways capacitors are used in the electronics world, here some other interesting applications are given.

Most people are now familiar with mobile cameras. Capacitors are used in this digital camera also. The flash which comes from the camera when we take photographs is due to the energy released from the capacitor because capacitors store that energy for this flash. These capacitors are called flash capacitors.

In the medical field, we know that heart defibrillators are used to give a sudden surge of a large amount of electrical energy to the patient’s chest to retrieve normal heart function. These defibrillators use a capacitor to store high voltage like 2000 V.

In automobiles, engineering is widely used. It is used in the ignition system of the engine to eliminate sparking. This means to start the engine with the energy of capacitors.

In general electric power supply problems are corrected with the capacitors. Capacitors are used to reduce power fluctuations in power supplies and to increase the efficiency of power transmission.
